COVID-19 Operational Update

March 23, 2020 - Update

I am writing to update you on the steps Morrison Brown Sosnovitch LLP is taking in the face of the unprecedented and evolving COVID-19 pandemic we are all dealing with.  While some of our staff members elected to work from home last week, and those who were in the office took extra care to maintain social distancing and proper hand hygiene, we have now decided that the responsible thing to do is to close our offices until further notice.

While the physical office will be closed, we have infrastructure in place which will allow our staff to work remotely. As such, we will be carrying on business as close to normally as possible and are available as always to assist our clients, particularly in this challenging time as we all continue to deal with the impact of COVID-19.  We are regularly monitoring updates from Canadian health authorities and will keep clients informed of our procedures as circumstances change.

We will also be monitoring any legislative changes introduced in response to COVID-19 and will update clients of any changes which may impact their business.

We appreciate and value your business and look forward to the opportunity to continue providing you with our usual level of service, while also doing our part to ensure both the health and safety of our team and the community at large.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

March 16, 2020

Given the unprecedented and evolving COVID-19 pandemic we are all dealing with, I am writing to assure you that Morrison Brown Sosnovitch LLP is taking measures to help safeguard our employees and clients while also ensuring our ability to continue operations.

Our offices remain open at this time and business operations are continuing as usual. We have infrastructure in place which will allow our staff to work remotely should the situation become more severe. To limit the spread of the virus, all employees, clients, and visitors to the firm are asked to not come to our offices if they have recently travelled outside of Canada or are experiencing fever, cough, difficulty breathing or other flu-like symptoms, or if they have been in close contact with someone who has travelled outside of Canada or is experiencing such symptoms.

Within the office, hand sanitizer stations are available and we are taking extra care to sanitize frequently touched surfaces.  Our staff is also being encouraged to practice social-distancing and to rely upon e-mail, telephone and video conferencing in order to limit face to face meetings.

Clients should also be aware that, except for a limited number of urgent matters, the civil courts in Ontario will be closed starting March 17, 2020.  Any matters scheduled during the closure will be automatically adjourned and we will attend to rescheduling them once the courts re-open.

We are regularly monitoring updates from Canadian health authorities and will keep clients informed of our procedures as circumstances change. We will also be monitoring any legislative changes introduced in response to COVID-19 and will update clients of any changes which may impact their business.

Please be assured that we are implementing all reasonable measures to allow us to continue providing you with our usual level of service while ensuring the health and safety of our team.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
